Kil­lar­ney stu­dent to take part in All-Ire­land po­etry com­pe­ti­tion

St Bren­dan’s Col­lege Kil­lar­ney stu­dent Ar­man­das Ven­darazi­cius is head­ing to Dublin this Thurs­day to com­pete in the ‘Po­etry Aloud’ All-Ire­land semi-fi­nals at the Na­tional Li­brary. Ar­man­das is a six­thyear pupil with a deep love of po­etry and is look­ing for­ward to Thurs­day’s event hav­ing come through the re­gional qual­i­fi­ca­tion route with a recital of a poem by Patrick Ka­vanagh. For the semi-fi­nal, Ar­man­das must re­cite a poem by W.B Yeats and also a poem of his own choos­ing.

“Ar­man­das has a deep in­ter­est in po­etry and reads po­ems of all gen­res, in­clud­ing Shake­speare who he loves. He’s very much look­ing for­ward to it,” said Denise Lyons, or­gan­iser teacher and coach.

St Bren­dan’s stu­dent Ar­madas Ben­dar­avi­cus who will par­tic­i­pate in the All Ire­land semi fi­nal Po­etry Aloud this Thurs­day in Dublin.
