Step back to the ‘90s and it’s all for a good cause
IF Brit Pop tunes from Blur and Oasis took your fancy back in the day then you might want to pencil in McSorleys Bar on Saturday, November 18 at 9:30pm to your diary as a special ‘Back to the ‘90s’ event takes place with DJs Jim and Kev playing music from a glorious decade.
Nothing beats a bit of musical nostalgia once you hit your 30s and 40s and don’t worry, it’s not a fancy dress so all you need do is turn up and enjoy the music and chat about the distant days when bell bottom jeans and psychedelic t-shirts were all the go.
Proceeds from the night go to Cystic Fibroses Ireland and the idea for this has a deeply personal story attached as it was decided it would make an ideal tribute to close friend Patrick McSparron who died of CF 20 years ago.
“Patrick died in November 1997 aged 19 and we just thought on his anniversary it would be nice to remember him in this way. Patrick was a big Manchester United fan and I recall we all wore United jerseys on the day he was buried,” said Patricia McCarthy.
Tickets are €10 and several spot prizes will be available on the night. Tickets are on sale from local outlets Who’s 4 Shoes on High St., Carry Out Muckross Rd, and Carry Out at Tralee Rd. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night.
Launching ‘Back to the 90s’ which will be held this Saturday, are are James Murphy, Kevin O’Sullivan, Patricia McCarthy and John Cronin. Proceeds from the night will go to CF Ireland.
