Death by suicide is primarily a male phenomenon in Kerry and is reflected in the fact that for every female suicide, between four and five men take their own lives. Therefore, understanding suicide through the lens of the broader determinants of health is essential in order to create strategies for engaging men around their health. With this in mind, the training aims to provide front line workers with the skills and knowledge to best connect with men.
