More buses bring Kerry patients to Belfast
PATIENTS from Kerry and west Cork travelled by bus to Belfast in recent days for cataract operations, part of an initiative organised by Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae, and Michael Collins TD.
It was the third such trip in recent months. In December, six patients travelled to Belfast for 15-minute procedures that they had waited years for. More buses will go on February 25 and March 11.
“We will continue to operate this service for everyone for as long as there is a need to,” Deputy Healy-Rae said.
“Hip and knee replacements, along with other procedures, can also be done in Belfast. You pay up front and you will get your money refunded to you through the HSE Cross Border Directive,” he added.
