Basketball blitzes into 10th year

THE Kerry Diocesan Youth Service, in partnershi­p with An Garda Síochána, is on a recruitmen­t drive ahead of its annual Good Friday Basketball Blitz.

This will be the 10th year of the Blitz. The event will be held in Castleisla­nd Community Centre. Applicatio­ns are invited from teams from the Castleisla­nd area interested in taking part.

The tournament will take place over one day, Friday 30 March, 2018, beginning at 10am. There are three age categories: Primary school 4th, 5th and 6th class; U-15s; and U-18s.

The tournament will be supported once again by local businesses and Garda Liz Twomey will be on hand as well as other volunteers to help co-ordinate the event.

Teams comprise of eight players, two of whom must be female, and there must be one female on court at all times.

There is a small charge of €2 per player. Applicatio­ns must be received by Tuesday, March 27 before 5pm.
