Rockies the favourites to return to the top table

DIVISION 2 promises to be a rollercoaster ride this year. There are some super teams involved. You could make a case for most of them to be in the hunt for promotion come next September or October and, equally, it’s possible to see any number of them find themselves in a battle against the drop.

All that is a roundabout way of saying that predictions are a mug’s game in a twelve team division over eleven rounds. All the same we do have our hunches and the biggest one is that Austin Stacks – with three places up for grabs and with a new manager in situ – should be capable of making a rapid fire return to the top division.

Kenmare Shamrocks are our favourites to join them and after that it could be any number of sides. Kilcummin, Milltown / Castlemaine and Castleisland Desmonds all make compelling cases.

Down the other end of the table we suspect Ballymacelligott will find the going tough, as will LIstowel Emmets and, perhaps even, Dromid Pearses.
