KILLARNEY LEGION

-

CO.LEAGUE DIV.1 RD.1Dingle 0-12 Killarney Legion 1-1. A winning start to the county league as the seniors turned in a performance built on determination, discipline and no mean skill. Cold and blustery both teams served up a competitive game with Dingle using a short passing game which the Legion countered with a high work rate from start to finish. Little separated the sides at the break with the homeside trailing by a point as the sides gathered themselves for what was to be a tight affair in the run in.Manager James O Sullivan made some astute adjustments at the break and indeed his use of his bench - non more so than Sean McCarthy - all contributed in telling fashion.Unfair as usual to single any individual but the Legion saw Danny Sheehan at fullback give a faultless performance while Jonathan Lyne was dynamic all through showing great leadership.Shaun Keane at midfield was powerful and Jamie O Sullivan at full forward gave an exhibition ending with a personal tally of 8 pts.Testimony to the teams determination was when Dingle hit the front for the first time with three mins.to go they worked their way down field and as a 30m.free dropped short the ever willing Jack O Neill out jumped the Dingle defence to fist the ball to the net. Injury time saw a single point go Dingle’s way but the points belonged to the green and whites.
