THIS was a big game for both sides who are hovering close to the relegation zone and they had to settle for a share of the spoils in this keenly contested encounter. Both sides had chances to win the game late on but eventually had to settle for a point each.

Shane Lowth and Simon Lorne scored for Tralee Dynamos while James Nagle and Chris Egan scored for Mastergeeh­a.

DENNY DIVISION 1A CG Killarney 5 Ballyheigu­e Athletic 1

CG Killarney enhanced their prospects of reaching the league final with a crucial win over fellow contenders Ballyheigu­e Athletic at Celtic Park Killarney on Saturday evening.

Everyone was expecting a close game, but CG turned in a riveting performanc­e winning by a very comfortabl­e margin. The star of the show for the winners was John Foley who scored four goals and David McSweeney was the other goalscorer.

The assists were provided by Mike Griffin 2, Mike Daly, Joe Donovan and Mike Murphy. Their best players on the day were Tadhg Fleming, Ger Foley and Dave Keirns. Kevin Walsh was the Ballyheigu­e scorer.

A BRACE of goals from Ruadhan Hennessy gave Strand Road the three points in a tight game and moved them up the table and away from the relegation zone.

LISTOWEL Celtic made up valuable ground on Castlegreg­ory and The Park with a good win over Killarney Athletic B.

Liam O’Connor two and Stephen McCarthy scored for the Fealesider­s who are now just three points behind league leaders The Park with a game in hand while they are two points behind second placed Castlegreg­ory also with a game in hand.

DENNY DIVISION 2B CS Clochain Breanainn 9 Lenamore Rovers 1

CSCB booked their place in the league final on Friday evening with a facile win over Lenamore Rovers. Niall Murphy (three), Timothy Moriarty, Alan Maunsell, Pádraig Spillane, Sean O’Connor and Jack Nix scored for the winners.

They will meet either Mainebank or Spa Road in the final with a strong possibilit­y that the second placed slot will go to a play-off.

Ballyheigu­e Athletic B 5 Lisard Wanderers 2

BALLYHEIGU­E took the three points here against lowly Lisard Wanderers who are pointless after nine games. Conor Corrigan 2, Brendan Moynihan, Colin Walz and Mark Regan scored for the seasiders.

DENNY YOUTHS LEAGUE Killarney Celtic 4 Killarney Athletic 2

CELTIC came away with the bragging rights in a very competitiv­e game. Jordan Leahy, Jarad Barton, Lee Downing and Ryan Kelliher scored for the winners.
