Lo­cal ra­dio sta­tion col­lects two awards

RA­DIO Kerry has won two awards at this year’s IMRO ra­dio awards which were held in Kilkenny over the week­end.

The sta­tion took a bronze medal in the In­no­va­tion cat­e­gory at the awards for its ‘Be The Voice’ series.

The series was com­piled by stu­dents of the Kerry ETB Ra­dio Broad­cast­ing and Dig­i­tal Jour­nal­ism course, un­der the guid­ance of Ra­dio Kerry Training Man­ager Eoghain Fitzgerald.

The sta­tion also won sil­ver in the Lo­cal Sta­tion of the Year cat­e­gory.

The Awards were at­tended by over 600 peo­ple in the ra­dio in­dus­try in Ire­land.

“Tonight was a cel­e­bra­tion of the cre­ativ­ity, in­no­va­tion and va­ri­ety of Ir­ish ra­dio. The qual­ity, ap­peal and pro­fes­sion­al­ism of all nom­i­nees is a fit­ting recog­ni­tion of our au­dio is­land and our won­der­ful lis­ten­ers,” said Awards Chair­man Tom McGuire.
