60th Birth­day: Con­grat­u­la­tions to the for­mer Valen­tia Young Is­lan­ders and South Kerry foot­baller Pat O’Con­nor, of Cooil, who was 60 on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 2.

Pat and his wife, Col­lette, and fam­ily were pleas­antly sur­prised by the ar­rival of their son, Shane, from Toronto for the oc­ca­sion.

Pub­lic meet­ing:

A pub­lic meet­ing to re­view par­ish life over the past three years and dis­cuss a plan for the fu­ture will be held in the Royal Ho­tel on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 11, at 8pm.

Fr Ger God­ley from the Dioce­san Pastoral Com­mit­tee will be in at­ten­dance.

All are wel­come.

Seán Falvey:

“Where has Seán Falvey gone?’’ is a com­mon ut­ter­ance these days in the Ring Lyne Bar of Chapel­town (Caol).

The 2005 South Kerry se­nior foot­ball cham­pi­onship-winning player, who was on the Valen­tia team ver­sus Dro­mid Pearses that mo­men­tous day, was re­cently home to his na­tive

Chapel­town, Valen­tia, hav­ing spent the past five years in Mel­bourne, Aus­tralia. He also put down a short pe­riod in Ade­laide.

Seán’s pres­ence has been missed around Caol in the re­cent past, and the news is that he has jet­ted off to Toronto in Canada, where he in­tends to stay for an open-ended pe­riod.
