Micheál helps to gives us all a lesson in positive ageing as he take up climbing!
MÍCHEÁL Ó Muircheartaigh got Positive Ageing Week off to a powerful start on Monday at Dún Síon Head where he tried his hand at rock climbing and, as the photo shows, he wasn’t in the least bothered about hanging over the edge of a cliff.
Mícheál, attributes hill walking, the occasional game of golf, eating well, challenging yourself, volunteering in the community and being as active as possible as the best path to positive ageing. With all that, and a lot more besides in his kitbag, there was no better man for the job of launching the Bank of Ireland Positive Ageing Week, which is all about exploring the positive aspects of getting older and celebrating with the older people in our communities.
Hundreds of events take place around the country during Positive Ageing Week. Rock climbing wouldn’t be included in many of them, but there are more sedate propositions such as coffee mornings, tea dances, quizzes and walks.
