Mags inspiring others through her own weight loss
MAGS Savage Bell has been there and done that when it comes to weight loss. The Tralee mother-of-two has battled with weight all her life, and at her lowest point she reached 18st 9Ib. In many ways Mags’ story is the same as everyone else’s: tried everything and anything; lost a bit and gained a bit.
Before attending Weightwatchers in 2004, nothing had ever worked for Mags. But today she weighs 11st 4Ib – a loss of 7st 3Ib. Mags is nothing if not determined and now she wants to help others achieve their goal of not just losing weight, but also doing it in a way that becomes a lifestyle choice.
‘Wellness that Works’ is the name of the class for men and women looking to lose weight. Mags is taking over the class from Breda O’Shea on November 13 and she is looking forward to sharing her story and experiences with clients.
“It’s important to emphasise the importance of weight loss to our wellness. The positivity surrounding weight loss needs to be explored more by everyone. We have a mixture of all ages in the class and more people are now in tune with their mental wellness. Food, and a healthy lifestyle, are major components of this,” Mags said.
Anyone who has ever lost weight will know that the fear of putting it all back on again is a constant source of anxiety and worry. This can have a crippling effect on mental health, which is one of the reasons why Mags wants to share her experiences. The positivity that comes with finding your own niche when losing weight is also important to Mags. She believes that losing weight is a ‘nice feeling’; but maintaining weigh loss is life-changing.
Mags said: “We’re all on this journey together and no one should have any inhibitions. Our ‘Flex’ plan is all about flexibility. There are no foods that we can’t have as everything in moderation is key. I’m looking forward to meeting people and helping them achieve a happy and healthy weight.”
If you would like to attend a ‘Wellness that Works’ class then pop along to the KDYS, Killarney at 6:30pm on Tuesday evenings.
