Healy Raes to face court in April as summonses served

TWO sons of Deputy Michael Healy Rae are to appear in Kenmare District Court on April 5 to face assault charges. Both will deny the charges.

Jackie and Kevin Healy Rae, Sandymount, Kilgarvan, were served with the summonses at Kenmare Garda Station this week after they voluntaril­y arranged to attend the station.

The charges arise from an incident in Kenmare town on December 28, 2017.

A third man, Malachy Scannell, Inchinacoo­sh, Kilgarvan, is also facing assault charges from the same incident and will plead not guilty.

All three accused are represente­d by solicitor Padraig O’Connell.

On April 5 a decision will be made on what court the case will be heard.
