‘No foul play’ involved in death of Tralee man

- By SIMON BROUDER

GARDAÍ have ruled out foul play following the death of an elderly Tralee man who was found seriously injured and unresponsive outside his home in the Lohercannon area of the town.

The man – who was in his early 80s – was found with serious head injuries outside his house shortly after 8am on Friday morning.

He was brought to University Hospital Kerry for treatment, where he passed away not long after his arrival.

The scene at Lohercannon was sealed off for several hours as gardaí investigated the cause of the man’s injuries.

Following a thorough investigation of the scene and local enquiries, gardaí said that they have completely ruled out the possibility of foul play and that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The man’s fatal injuries are being treated as the result of a fall, and it is possible that an underlying illness or sudden medical emergency may have contributed to what gardaí have described as a tragic accident.
