Cox flies North Kerry flag...for the Rossies

-

OF the 20 players Kerry used last Sunday there wasn’t one of them from a club north of Tralee, and only two of the match-day 26 – Jason Foley and Shane Enright – are from north Kerry. Nevertheless, that part of the county was still represented in National League action at the weekend in the form of Conor Cox as the Listowel Emmets man made his debut for the Roscommon footballers. And what a debut it was!

Cox started at right corner forward for the Rossies – the county his father Martin comes from – and put in a stellar performance, converting five free kicks, including a clutch score very late in their game against Monaghan, which Roscommon won by 1-12 to 0-13 to register their first win of the campaign.

Cox had transferred to Éire Óg in Roscommon, but has transferred back to Emmets to be eligible to play for Roscommon this year.
