Im­por­tant café date for Kerry writ­ers

MANY writ­ers will of­ten over­look some of the more nu­anced as­pects of their work, and to help in this re­gard a spe­cial Writ­ers’ Café takes place at Kil­lar­ney House on Saturday, Oc­to­ber 14 from 11am to 1pm.

This event is or­gan­ised in con­junc­tion with Kerry County Coun­cil, Words Ire­land and Lis­towel Writ­ers’ Week and the topic un­der dis­cus­sion is ‘Tax­a­tion for Writ­ers’ where prac­ti­cal ad­vice and guide­lines about rev­enue, man­ag­ing books, un­der­stand­ing tax­a­tion, In­come Tax and the Artist Exemption will be dealt with.

The ses­sion will be de­liv­ered as an in­for­mal pre­sen­ta­tion with an op­por­tu­nity for queries di­rect to an in­dus­try spe­cial­ist. It will be de­liv­ered by Gaby Smyth - a Fel­low of the In­sti­tute of Char­tered Ac­coun­tants and MD of ‘Gaby Smyth & Com­pany Ltd’. Gaby will part with his 20 years of ex­pe­ri­ence spe­cial­is­ing in the lit­er­ary, vis­ual, mu­sic, film and theatre arts. He is also the chair of Jame­son Dublin Film Festival.

“We are also grateful to the NPWS and for the use of Kil­lar­ney House and also to the Board of Trus­tees of Muck­ross House for their on­go­ing sup­port to the arts in Kerry,” said County Arts Of­fi­cer Kate Ken­nelly.

Ad­di­tional pro­gram con­tent in­cludes ac­counts, al­low­able trad­ing ex­pen­di­ture, treat­ment of cap­i­tal ex­pen­di­ture and fil­ing for PRSI, USC and Artist Exemption. The café is free of charge but reg­is­tra­tion is es­sen­tial on­line. See for more de­tails.
