A very welcome return for one of the town’s best known stores

IT’S always great to see a new business opening in Tralee – and happily it looks like several are in the works right now – but it’s even better to see a store return after a long absence.

Such is the case on Bridge Street where, for the last week, John Murphy and his son Frankie have been busy kitting out a new ‘Celcius’ clothes shop.

Like so many local businesses ‘Celcius’ on Ashe Street fell victim to the ravages of the recession and it’s great to see one of Tralee’s best known brands returing to the high street after all these years.

In its heyday the shop was one of the most popular shops in town and I sincerely doubt that there’s a Tralee man aged over 20 that doesn’t have at least one item from Celcius hanging in his wardrobe.

We’re not alone in welcoming Celcius back to town. A brief message on Facebook last week – confirming the shop was reopening – was greeted with hundreds of messages wishing John his family good luck. The Murphy’s are putting the finishing touches on the new shop which should be open in a few weeks time.
