Grad­u­ates of new health care course

THIR­TEEN peo­ple from across the county se­cured jobs in the health sec­tor through a brand new course from which they grad­u­ated on Fri­day.

They grad­u­ated through a new Depart­ment of Em­ploy­ment Af­fairs and So­cial Pro­tec­tion, Health and So­cial Care pro­gramme of­fer­ing a ‘QQI Level 5 in Health Care sup­port cer­tifi­cate’ at the end of the course.

The course also pre­sented par­tic­i­pants with the op­tion of re­ceiv­ing an award that would pro­vide a strong plat­form from which to se­cure full time em­ploy­ment in the Health Care sec­tor. They were the first to com­plete the course with a fur­ther 45 peo­ple in the county re­cently be­gin­ning the sec­ond in­take of the course. Com­mu­nity em­ploy­ment po­si­tions are avail­able to be fil­lled such as Health Care sup­port, Child­care, Hor­ti­cul­ture and also ar­eas such as tourism and ad­mi­nas­tra­tion.

Cour­ses such as this pro­gramme help fill these em­ploy­ment gaps in the county.

The depart­ment of Em­ploy­ment Af­fairs and So­cial Pro­tec­tion al­ready sup­ports 44 com­mu­nity em­ploy­ment schemes in Kerry.
