Ap­peals against planned ex­ten­sion of Skel­lig Ho­tel

PLANNING per­mis­sion granted by Kerry County Coun­cil for an ex­ten­sion to the Skel­lig Ho­tel will be re­viewed by An Bord Pleanala fol­low­ing the sub­mis­sion of two ap­peals.

Ob­jec­tions were submitted to Bord Pleanála by lo­cal landown­ers Jonathan and Michael T Mo­ri­arty, and Ricky and Dawn Keane, own­ers of Em­lagh House which has the Skel­lig Ho­tel in its line of sight to the mouth of Din­gle har­bour.

The ap­peals high­light sev­eral con­cerns, in­clud­ing the height of the pro­posed de­vel­op­ment, the im­pact on Din­gle and the shore­line as well as the pos­si­bil­ity of in­creased traf­fic hin­der­ing ac­cess to the Coast­guard sta­tion.

The ap­pli­ca­tion for the ex­ten­sion, which is three storeys high in some parts and four storeys high in oth­ers, was granted planning per­mis­sion by Kerry County Coun­cil but this de­ci­sion will now be re-ex­am­ined by An Bord Pleanala.
