COM­MU­NITY CARE LOTTO

There was no win­ner of the €2,700 jack­pot for the 3rd of Septem­ber 2018. Num­bers drawn by Michael O’Sul­li­van were 2,22,29,30. The €50 win­ner was John B Grif­fin, Ler­rig Cross and the two €30 win­ners were Kathy Cur­ran, Ler­rig and Eileen Fitzell, Bal­ly­hemiken. SCOIL NAOMH EIRC

A Big Warm Wel­come to all our new Ju­nior in­fants to Scoil Naomh Eirc. We were so happy to wel­come four­teen beau­ti­ful new pupils to the school on the first Septem­ber. All the chil­dren have set­tled in very well and are get­ting used to the long day at school. They are mak­ing friends and have adapted very quickly to the school rou­tine. They had a busy week as they played, ex­plored, sang and lis­tened to sto­ries with their teacher Mrs O’Car­roll. Hope­fully, their time in Scoil Naomh Eirc will be both a very en­joy­able and suc­cess­ful experience.

AOIBHINN STRIKES GOLD!

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Aoibhinn O’ Driscoll who won gold in the All Ire­land Com­mu­nity Games U.8 80m sprint. This is a huge achieve­ment by the young Kil­moy­ley girl. To reach the fi­nal Aoibhinn had to come through the heats, quar­ter fi­nal and semi-fi­nal. Aoibhinn showed tremen­dous courage, com­mit­ment and de­ter­mi­na­tion.Ir­ish Danc­ing Ir­ish danc­ing classes for pri­mary school pupils will re­sume this Mon­day Septem­ber 17th in Kil­moy­ley Com­mu­nity Care Cen­tre from 4 to 5pm. Once again we are de­lighted to have Jimmy Smith back in Kil­moy­ley. New mem­bers al­ways wel­come.

BIG BEACH CLEAN

Banna Beach has been se­lected as one of three flag­ship venues for this year’s Big Beach Clean, part of an in­ter­na­tional coast clean-up that’s or­ga­nized by Clean Coasts. This year’s Big Beach Clean up takes place over the week­end of Septem­ber 15th17th at beaches and wa­ter­ways all over Kerry. Tidy Towns Kil­moy­ley is sup­port­ing this worth­while event at our lo­cal Banna Beach and we en­cour­age as many as pos­si­ble to take part. Cen­tra Stores have come on board and any­one who regis­ters on­line will have the op­tion of pick­ing up their Beach Clean kit from their lo­cal Cen­tra store.

TIDY TOWNS THURS­DAYS

With the weather turn­ing colder and the evenings draw­ing in, Tidy Towns Thurs­days has now come to an end for 2018. Míle Buiochas must go to all of our won­der­ful vol­un­teers who came out on so many evenings to help keep Kil­moy­ley look­ing its best. Al­ready we’ve started plan­ning new projects for 2019 so if you’re in­ter­ested in help­ing out we’d love to see even more new faces. Let’s con­tinue to keep the place as tidy as pos­si­ble by re­mind­ing friends and fam­ily to drive our lit­ter home. Bags and lit­ter pick­ers will be left at O’ Sul­li­van’s Ler­rig Stores for those who wish to carry out lit­ter picks dur­ing the Au­tumn/Win­ter months.

GARDEN COM­PE­TI­TION AWARDS NIGHT

Af­ter what has been a glo­ri­ous Sum­mer, the gar­dens around the par­ish have bright­ened our hearts and it’s now that time of year once again. The judge has been around the par­ish tak­ing a look at your gar­dens and the nom­i­nees and win­ners of the four cat­e­gories have been cho­sen and will be in­formed in the com­ing weeks. The an­nual awards will take place on Fri­day 28th Septem­ber at The Kil­moy­ley Com­mu­nity Care Cen­tre start­ing at 8pm with mu­sic and a cheese­and-wine re­cep­tion, fol­lowed by the pre­sen­ta­tion of awards. As al­ways, the evening is an open in­vite and an op­por­tu­nity for us to ac­knowl­edge all the great work that is hap­pen­ing around the par­ish. So feel free to bring a cou­ple of friends with you.

HAL­LOWEEN HOO­LEY

Pen­cil the date into your di­aries! This year’s Hal­loween Hoo­ley will take place on Sun­day 28th Oc­to­ber at The Com­mu­nity Cen­tre at 11am. The hoo­ley is a cos­tume com­pe­ti­tion, disco, cof­fee morn­ing and cake sale. You’ve less than two months... start de­sign­ing your cos­tume now!

CROSS COUN­TRY RACES

All pri­mary school pupils in Kil­moy­ley are in­vited to take part in the Pri­mary Schools cross coun­try evening on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 19th in Ard­fert in An Fear­ann grounds (near Ard­fert Med­i­cal Cen­tre). This is a new event for the West North Kerry area and there will be races for all classes from first to sixth, boys and girls and medals will be awarded to the top 6 in each race. There will be a shield for the best over­all school. The fun be­gins at 6pm with regis­tra­tion which costs 2 euro.

This a great op­por­tu­nity to in­tro­duce new ath­letes to athletics and health. Fur­ther in­for­ma­tion will be avail­able from the pri­mary school this week or from St Bren­dan’s AC sec­re­tary Irene on 087 7985557.

Train­ing con­tin­ues at 6.30pm on Wed­nes­days in An Fear­ann for all age-groups from 7 up­wards.
