THE GAME IN 60 SECONDS
The more impressive performers were probably on the Feale Rangers side of things. Philip O’Connor was consistently impressive for Kierans, while second half sub Seán Horan stole the show in the end, but it’s hard to look past either Seán T Dillon or Pat Corridan from Rangers for man of the match. We’re going to give the nod to the elder stateman who put in a stellar sixty minutes in the number three shirt.
You could argue it was the sending off of Cormac Mulvhill, or Pat O’Shea’s call to call Seán Horan into the fray, but most probably it was Horan’s goal. Up until that point the home side seemed relatively comfortable in their position.
TA LKING POINT
For all the talk about the districts not showing up of late, there was certainly no evidence for that in Listowel. The Rangers were fully committed as, indeed, were the Saints. This was a really good championship game between two good teams playing attractive football. There’s still plenty of merit to the district sides in this competition.
