Manor West set for expansion in new plan
PLANS are underway to build a significant extension to Manor West Retail Park.
Late last month Tralee based company Ashman Developments applied to Kerry County Council for permission to build four new retail warehouse units and a garden centre along with car parking for 330 vehicles on a site immediately to the south of the existing retail park.
The site of the proposed development is bounded by Manor West Retail park to the north and the Deerpark estate to the west with open fields to the east and south.
According to filings with the Companies Registration Office Ashman Developments was founded on August 23 a little over a month before the application was submitted to Kerry County Council.
The development company’s registered address is at The Ashe Hotel on Maine Street in Tralee which is owned by the Boyle family who built and previously operated Manor West Retail Park.
Manor West Retail Park was sold to American investment fund Marathon Asset Management in 2015 in a deal which, according to coverage at the time of the sale, was reportedly worth around €59 million.
The Boyle family had purchased the Ashe Hotel – the then vacant Tralee Town Centre Hotel which had a €1 million price tag – the previous year.
Access to the proposed new retail site at Manor West would be via the existing Manor West Retail Park car park.
A decision on Ashman Development’s planning application is due to be made by November 21 and submissions can be made to the council’s planning office until October 31.
