TRIP TO LOURDRES WITH IR­ISH PIL­GRIM­AGE TRUST

The Ir­ish Pil­grim­age Trust have been in con­tact with us about their 2019 Easter trip to Lour­des. The clos­ing date for ap­pli­ca­tions is the 31st of Oc­to­ber. The trip is open to: Young peo­ple with a phys­i­cal dis­abil­ity or med­i­cal con­di­tion (aged 9-18). Young peo­ple with a learn­ing dis­abil­ity (aged 11-30). Se­ri­ously ill chil­dren un­der the age of 9, ac­com­pa­nied by a par­ent or close rel­a­tive. Young adults be­tween the age of 20 and 25 with a dis­abil­ity or ill­ness. MEN­TOR­SHIP TRAIN­ING WITH SLIS FOR SIGN LAN­GUAGE IN­TER­PRETERS

Sign Lan­guage In­ter­pret­ing Ser­vice (SLIS) is set­ting up a men­tor­ing sys­tem to sup­port the qual­ity & avail­abil­ity of sign lan­guage in­ter­preters, with the in­ten­tion to set up a panel of men­tors in 2019 for in­ter­preters seek­ing sup­port for de­vel­op­ment of their com­pe­ten­cies and skills. A one-day train­ing course for in­ter­preters reg­is­tered with SLIS on ‘How to be­come an ef­fec­tive men­tor’ will take place in SLIS’s of­fice in DVI in Dublin on the 1st of No­vem­ber from 9am-4pm.
