The ability of Kerry businesses to evolve and withstand adversity is amazing...
THE Kerryman Business Awards celebrates the fantastic mixture of businesses we have here in Kerry representing a cross-section of rural and urban life. They are the backbone of our villages and towns, for not only do they contribute to the social and economic fabric of communities, they also help create jobs and sustain the local economy through various business initiatives.
On October 19 The Ballygarry Hotel & Spa will again host our awards event, which we’re extremely proud of. I mentioned at the outset of the awards back in 2016 that I felt they would provide an opportunity for businesses to increase their profile outside of their traditional support base. Very often a local business is confined to the service it provides, but The Kerryman Business Awards has shown that local businesses have become better known as a result of submitting an application and having our readership discover what it is they do, and the service they provide.
The INEC Killarney were worthy overall winners of last year’s event. Moreover, the individual category winners also demonstrated an exciting cross-section of services in tour- ism, hospitality and public services. Innovation and creativity is never in short supply when assessing the range of applications received and it’s astounding to see the list of businesses out there and how each plays an important part in the day-to-day running of communities.
Broadcaster and presenter Matt Cooper is one of the best in the business and we’re delighted that he will be joining us to share his insights about local business and the challenges they face. Our emcee for the evening is Caroline McEnery, who does a marvellous job each year. Caroline is a leading entrepreneur and she recognises and appreciates the hard work of business people in Kerry.
Finally, our awards are nothing without the entries we receive and I would like to thank each and every business in Kerry for sharing their story with us. Businesses in Kerry face constant challenges and their ability to evolve and withstand adversity is truly amazing. I congratulate our shortlisted entries and look forward to meeting them on the night.
