The Butler Centre
THE saying ‘what’s new is old’ was never truer in the case of the Butler Centre in Listowel. This stunning three-storey building is located in the prominent centre of Listowel and enjoys panoramic views of the historic town square.
Offering luxury meeting rooms, conference space and elegantly restored rooms for weddings and civil ceremonies, the Butler Centre is a first class example of innovation when it comes to transforming an old setting into a modern and vibrant venue.
It’s an inspirational setting for staff and customers alike who instantly appreciate what this stunning building has to offer. Originally built in 1867, the way in which its versatility and convenience has been retained to suit a 21 Century concept is a clever one. It continues to enjoy a solid reputation among business people and for luxury weddings and cocktail receptions.
The restoration of this Grade 2 listed building has added immensely to Listowel’s attractions, both from a functional and social point of view. Since it was purchased in 2016, it has hosted events from Listowel Writers’ Week, Listowel Visual Arts Festival and the Listowel Chamber Alliance launch. The restoration has also revived interest in the building from an historic angle.
Formally the old National Bank Building, the Butler Centre, thanks to proprietor Antoinette Butler, has shed its neglected appearance. This has to be commended as its current status represents a prime example of the innovative way in which old buildings can be restored and utilised. This is a fantastic achievement and the Butler Centre is now a place opened and ready to host your meeting or reception.
