Murphy Brownes Restaurant

The Kerryman (Tralee Edition) - - BUSINESS AWARDS 2018 -

FIRST opened in April 2018, Murphy Brownes Restaurant provides a wholesome and tasty array of food in the heart of Killarney. It is well-designed and is committed to catering for a thriving tourist and local trade. The restaurant is also dedicated to the concept of sourcing and providing local produce that is served in a relaxing setting.

Denis Murphy and Deirdre Browne are both friends who came together with the sole purpose of twinning their expertise and interest in culinary flare to make what is a truly unique experience for diners. Training is also an important part of the set up with a hands on approach taken across all areas to ensure innovation in customer service and culinary skills. All positive feedback from customers is shared with the restaurant’s team thus making everyone feel a part of the restaurant’s success.

Even though it has only been in business for six months, the restaurant employs 10-15 people, season dependant. The restaurant has been completely refurbished and up styled by local tradesmen, tilers, carpenters and plumbers. This is very much a local restaurant with a local focus, while sourcing its meat from the local butcher next door to the restaurant, and vegetables from the local market, is also part of Murphy Brownes Restaurant’s ethos.

The proprietors say they have not only reached their own six month success target, but also feel they have given the people of Kerry a little more choice when dining out. Their plan is to grow the restaurant based on hard work and positivity. They also welcome any innovative advice from the public on how they can enhance customer service and overall dining experience. This is a restaurant on an upward curve.
