Search for Minor team manager is underway

The Kerryman (Tralee Edition) - - SPORT - BY PAUL BRENNAN

THE search is on for a new Kerry minor football team manager after the departure of Peter Keane to manage the senior team.

Keane’s ratification as Eamonn Fitzmaurice’s successor as senior football team manager leaves a vacancy for the minor team manager post, with the county committee executive given permission to appoint a new manager, which will be retrospectively ratified by the club delegates in late November.

Club delegates at Monday night’s county committee meeting in Tralee were invited to forward proposals and opinions as to who might replace Keane, but the final decision will be made by the county committee executive, headed up by county committee chairman Tim Murphy.

While there are no clear favourites for the job at this stage former Kerry players like Johnny Crowley and Declan O’Sullivan are being spoken about in connection with the position.

Others such as Gary McGrath and Seamus Moynihan have also been spoken of as potential minor team managers, while Diarmuid Murphy is another.
