MAURICE FITZGERALD

The Kerryman (Tralee Edition) - - SPORT -

NOTWITHSTANDING Peter Keane’s licence to pick his management team without condition, it still made sense to maintain a link to the previous management, especially given that Keane hasn’t worked a senior inter-county dressing-room before.

In the circumstances, Keane’s Cahersiveen neighbour and St Marys club mate, Maurice Fitzgerald, was the obvious choice, given his reputation as one of the great exponents of the game. It probably helps that he was only involved for two of the Fitzmaurice years, as a selector, and so remains a relatively new voice in the dressing-room.
