NO surprise that Peter Keane would want to bring along at least one of the men he worked so successfully with for the last three years with the Minors, and Griffin was always an obvious option.
An multiple All-Ireland winner, Griffin played with Kerry until 2010 so he’s not that long away from the coalface of the game, and he certainly seems to have moved effortlessly into a coaching role with the minors. He has also worked alongside Eamonn Fitzmaurice in a coaching role with several Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne teams.
As a very able and versatile defender in his day, the Dingle club man will bring valuable expertise in an area that needs immediate and serious redressing.
Those minor teams Griffin and Keane worked with for the last three years were founded on solid defensive structures, and players who were comfortable in man on man defending and tackling, and much of that can be attributed to Griffin.
