Christmas boost as chamber launches revamped vouchers
TRALEE Chamber Alliance is hoping that a total revamp of its Christmas voucher promotional scheme will give businesses in the town a €300,000 boost this festive season.
In recent years the Chamber Alliance has organised the delivery of voucher books – containing distinct deals from various shops and hostelries – to every home in Tralee.
The books were successful and popular but this year the Chamber has given the promotion a make-over that it hopes will provide a much bigger bump to holiday trade.
Launched on Monday, the new voucher scheme is similar to a highly successful festive promotion that has been running in Listowel for several years.
Rather than receiving a book of highly specific vouchers, people in Tralee will this year be able to purchase €10, €20 or €50 vouchers – with no expiry date – that can be redeemed only in Tralee’s shops, hair and beauty salons, restaurants, cafés and hotels.
THE members of Tralee Chamber Alliance (TCA) have launched a new Christmas voucher scheme – similar to the highly successful festive promotion scheme in Listowel – which is hoped will provide a €300,000 boost to business in the county capital.
The vouchers – redeemable only in Tralee’s shops, hair and beauty salons, restaurants, cafés and hotels in Tralee – were unveiled on Monday.
Launched by the President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Aidan Kelly and the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Graham Spring, the first vouchers will be available to buy in the next couple of weeks, just in time for the busy Christmas shopping period.
The Tralee Vouchers – which will be available in €10, €20 and €50 denominations with no expiry date – can only be purchased at The Tech Co, Dominick Street Tralee and online at www.Tralee.ie.
“To make the Tralee Vouchers as successful as possible, we are asking all Tralee businesses to sign up to become a registered Participating Outlet. The more places that accept these vouchers, the more people will purchase them,” said TCA’s Ken Tobin.
Three high profile retailers – Garvey’s Supervalu, Shaw’s Department Store and CH Chemist – have already signed-up as outlets where the vouchers will be accepted as payment for goods and services.
“The registration process is simple and, while participating outlets will pay a small six per cent handling charge, the Tralee Vouchers will help generate more sales for local businesses,” said Ken Tobin.
For more details on how to sign-up as a participating outlet or for customers to learn how the system will work, visit www.Tralee.ie, email business@ Tralee.ie or call Tralee Chamber Alliance on 066-7121472.
A full list of participating outlets, which is subject to change, will be available from www. Tralee.ie and all businesses are encouraged to sign up.
Launching the Christmas Vouchers in The Mall Tralee on Monday were Ken Tobin (Tralee Champer Alliance), Kevin McCarthy (Garvey’s), Rebecca O’Connor and Maeve Rogers (CH Chemist), Aidan Kelly (Chamber Alliance), Peter Harty (CH Chemist), Ann Bunyan (Shaws), Paul Ruane (Designs), Mike Quinn and Marie Gutrie (Shaws).
