Popular Strandhill barrefused planning
Well known Strandhill bar and restaurant, The Strand Bar ( pictured) has been turned down for planning for a new front porch and balcony.
Owners Patsy, John, Johnston and Neil Byrne had applied to the County Council for permission to remove the existing front porch and balcony and build a new porch/ lobby extension which would also be used as a restaurant waiting area with balcony to first floor.
However, in a decision issued last week, Sligo County Council refused permission for the proposed development.
The Area Engineer for Sligo/ Strandhill, Conor McCann had recommended in his report on the planning file that permission be granted for the development.
The public file does not state the reasons why the council turned down the application which can be appealed by the applicants to An Bord Pleanala.
