The Sligo Champion - - NEWS -

AVING opened 12 years ago in 2005, Quayside Shopping Centre is a thriving shopping centre in Sligo town. With 130,000 square foot of retail space over four trading levels, it is the largest shopping centre in the North West of Ireland with multi- storey car parking.

Anchor tenants of Quayside include Next, T. K Maxx, River Island and more. Despite the economic recession, Quayside has continued to attract new retailers and customers alike.

In 2016, the shopping centre welcomed approximately 1.7 million people – a huge boost for the economy in Sligo.

Quayside boasts not only 43 retail units, but also 11 office suites and 89 residential units.

Around 300 people are employed in the shopping centre, meaning that Quayside is vital to the Sligo economy.

Last year, Quayside was sold after being in receivership for two years. The new owners appointed Bannon Property Consultants as managing agents for the centre.

Quayside Shopping Centre received a make- over, with a brand new signage package. Plans to also improve the multi- storey car- park are underway.

Local marketing company, Ocean Media, were recently appointed to the manage Quayside Shopping Centre’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which has been a huge boost for shops and the centre itself.

Christine Dolan, Centre Manager, has confirmed that two new stores will soon open in Quayside this year. Regatta will take over Unit 10, and is expected to be open by October, with work starting in September and Easons opened on Friday in Quayside and the new store fit out looks amazing.

Christine Dolan said: “Quayside is a lovely place to work. We have a good mix of retailers within the centre and all staff go above and beyond for their customers. I have witnessed first hand the hard work and dedication from each store manager during the good times and the bad. It is nice to see the economy starting to turn around again and we look forward to welcoming more new brands into the centre. 2017 has been a good year so far with lots of positive changes along the way. Our goal is that we continue to grow and expand into the future.

“We invested in Ocean Media and they have taken over our social media which has been brilliant. They are pumping a lot into that. Previously, we didn’t have anyone dedicated to that. They are really good and it’s great to have them on board,” she said.
