Huge in­ter­est as Sligo Su­per Cup is re­turn­ing for the sec­ond year

THE Sligo Su­per Cup, which took place for the first time in April, is set to re­turn in 2018.

Or­gan­is­ers re­vealed that the pop­u­lar U12 tour­na­ment will run from May 4th to 6th, 2018.

The clos­ing date for re­ceipt of ex­pres­sions of in­ter­est from clubs is the 30th of Novem­ber 2017.

As be­fore a to­tal of 8 teams ( 2 groups of 4 teams) with group games on Fri­day & Satur­day and play­off games on the Sun­day. 9v9 for­mat.

Al­ready there is a lot of in­ter­est from clubs look­ing to take part in the tour­na­ment.

The Sligo Su­per Cup was jointly hosted by Sligo Rovers and the Sligo Leitrim School­boys League, staged at Sligo Show­grounds.

Teams which took part in April were Celtic, Sh­effield Wed­nes­day, Lin­field, Done­gal League, Dublin District School­boys League ( DDSL), Club North­ern Ire­land, Mayo School­boys League and the hosts, Sligo Leitrim School­boys League.

The tour­na­ment, the first of its kind ever staged in the county, fea­tured the fu­ture soccer stars of tomorrow while also show­cas­ing the tremen­dous fa­cil­i­ties at the Sean Fal­lon Cen­tre at The Show­grounds.

Af­ter a fan­tas­tic tour­na­ment, with some top class foot­ball, the in­au­gu­ral win­ners of the Sligo Su­per Cup were the Dublin District School­boys League ( DDSL). It’s full steam ahead now for the sec­ond year of the tour­na­ment.

The Sligo Su­per Cup, which took place for the first time in 2017, is re­turn­ing in May 2018.
