CLOTHES RE­CY­CLING

There will be a cloth­ing re­cy­cling drive in aid of St Pa­trick’s and Drom­a­hair Ladies’ GAA Clubs. Col­lec­tion point: Pav­il­lion, Drom­a­hair Com­mu­nity Park. Col­lec­tion times and dates: Tues­days ( 6 p. m. to 8 p. m.) and Satur­days ( 10 a. m. to 2 p. m.).

Please do­nate all your clean un­wanted clothes, also bed linen, tow­els, cur­tains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Wear­able clothes will be re­cy­cled and re- used and other items will be re­cy­cled for items, such as, in­dus­trial wipes or sound­proof­ing. No house­hold bric- a- brac.

Take the has­sle out of birth­day par­ties by hold­ing it in the De­pot, lots of ta­bles and chairs and kitchen fa­cil­i­ties. Space in­door for bouncy cas­tle, no wor­ries about the weather.

TRAF­FIC CALM­ING

Peo­ple are ad­vised to drive with cau­tion in the vicin­ity of the works es­pe­cially along the main road as it can be ex­tremely busy at var­i­ous times of the day. This traf­fic will in­crease sub­stan­tially this week as the school re­opens for the coming aca­demic year.

HOSPICE COF­FEE

The an­nual cof­fee morn­ing in aid of Hospice will take place na­tion­wide on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 14, This is the 25th year of cof­fee morn­ings for Hospice and here in this area we have been host­ing the event for many of those 25 years. There will be de­tails next week of this year’s event for the Gee­vagh area.

It is up to ser­vices like NW STOP and SOSAD to pro­vide sup­port. No other ser­vice in our field can re­spond at the same speed. I be­lieve we can give an ex­cel­lent ser­vice to clients to en­sure they gain ac­cess to the ser­vice.’

He ex­plained ‘ the di­rec­tion that NW STOP has taken over the past 12 months is to bridge the gaps be­tween ini­tial cri­sis to path­ways which are avail­able.’

RAIL­WAY EX­HI­BI­TION

The Manorhamil­ton and District His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety pro­moted ex­hi­bi­tion mark­ing the clo­sure of the Sligo Leitrim and North­ern Coun­ties Rail­way ( SL and NCR) on Septem­ber 30, 1957, opened on Fri­day night, August 25, in the Leitrim Sculp­ture Cen­tre.

Lo­cal his­to­rian, Mar­garet Con­nolly spoke elo­quently and in­for­ma­tively at the open­ing of the ex­hi­bi­tion on the SL and NCR on Fri­day night. The ex­hi­bi­tion will run daily in the Sculp­ture Cen­tre till this Fri­day, Septem­ber 1, from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m. each day.

Pic­tured is Mary Con­way from Aclare was one of the quar­ter- fi­nal­ists of the Na­tional Brown Bread Bak­ing Com­pe­ti­tion, spon­sored by Aldi and in as­so­ci­a­tion with the NPA and ICA, which was held at An Gri­anán, Co. Louth. She will now com­pete in the semi- finals which will take place in the Aldi mar­quee at the Na­tional Plough­ing Cham­pi­onships on the 19th and 20th of Septem­ber.
