The Geevagh Community Resource lotto draw was held in Paddy’s Bar on Saturday, August 19, for a jackpot of € 8,600. The numbers drawn were 3, 16, 17 and 25. There was no winner. The next draw for a jackpot of € 8,700 will be held on Saturday, August 26, in Paddy’s Bar. The winners of € 20 each were Aimee Adams, c/ o Kathleen Adams; James Bruen, Keadue; Kate Willis, Coola; Seán Breheny, Geevagh and Shane McManus, Geevagh.
The death occurred peacefully at his home last week of James Patrick Keaney, Highwood. He was a well- known and respected member of the community. In his earlier years he was involved with others in the marquee business. He was also a popular and knowledgeable member of the farming community. His remains reposed at home before removal to St Brigid’s Church, Highwood for funeral Mass followed by burial in Kilmactranny cemetery. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Anne, brothers Michael and Bernard, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
THE sudden death also occurred recently of Caleb Broder, Kilkere, Kilmactranny. He was a retired farmer. His remains reposed at Shivnan’s Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon on Wednesday evening last. The removal took place to St Thomas’s Church, Kilmactranny for funeral service at 3 p. m. on Thursday followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
