The Gee­vagh Com­mu­nity Re­source lotto draw was held in Paddy’s Bar on Satur­day, August 19, for a jack­pot of € 8,600. The num­bers drawn were 3, 16, 17 and 25. There was no win­ner. The next draw for a jack­pot of € 8,700 will be held on Satur­day, August 26, in Paddy’s Bar. The win­ners of € 20 each were Aimee Adams, c/ o Kath­leen Adams; James Bruen, Keadue; Kate Wil­lis, Coola; Seán Bre­heny, Gee­vagh and Shane McManus, Gee­vagh.


The death oc­curred peace­fully at his home last week of James Pa­trick Keaney, High­wood. He was a well- known and re­spected mem­ber of the com­mu­nity. In his ear­lier years he was in­volved with oth­ers in the mar­quee busi­ness. He was also a pop­u­lar and knowl­edge­able mem­ber of the farm­ing com­mu­nity. His re­mains re­posed at home be­fore re­moval to St Brigid’s Church, High­wood for fu­neral Mass fol­lowed by burial in Kil­mac­tranny ceme­tery. Deep­est sym­pa­thy is ex­tended to his wife Anne, brothers Michael and Bernard, neph­ews, nieces, rel­a­tives and friends.

THE sud­den death also oc­curred re­cently of Caleb Broder, Kilkere, Kil­mac­tranny. He was a re­tired farmer. His re­mains re­posed at Shiv­nan’s Fu­neral Home, Bal­ly­farnon on Wed­nes­day even­ing last. The re­moval took place to St Thomas’s Church, Kil­mac­tranny for fu­neral ser­vice at 3 p. m. on Thurs­day fol­lowed by burial in the ad­join­ing ceme­tery. Sym­pa­thy is ex­tended to his brothers, sis­ter, nieces, neph­ews, neigh­bours and friends.
