There will be a blood do­na­tion clinic in St Brigid’s Hall, Tub­ber­curry, on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 7, from 4.30 p. m. to 8 p. m. As al­ways the call goes out and Blood is in short sup­ply and ev­ery­one who can should con­sider do­nat­ing.

It is a won­der­ful act of car­ing for oth­ers; a gen­uine gift of life to a per­son in des­per­ate need. Some­one will live be­cause you give. Within three weeks of do­na­tion you can be as­sured your blood will have as­sisted in sav­ing some­ones life. No greater gift is pos­si­ble.


A DVD of a walk from Bal­lina to Tub­ber­curry in May 1997 re­trac­ing the route taken by the fa­mous race­horse, Ball­yara Lad, trans­port­ing grain from Bal­lina to Tub­ber­curry dur­ing the Great Famine, is now avail­able in the fol­low­ing out­lets: Gille­spies, Surlis’ Su­per­Valu, Mur­phy’s Spar, K & B Hard­ware, Kil­lo­ran’s Restau­rant, Day­break and Barry’s Phar­macy.
