ST NATHY’S

Our seniors started off the year with a promising win against Eastern Harps in the first round of the ACL. Well done to all involved, they are due to meet Tourlestra­ne next on the 18th March.

Well done to two of our senior players Denise McGrath and Carol Coleman who played in the All-Ireland College Lynch Cup Final in Abbottstow­n. Unfortunat­ely they were beaten in the final but it was a great achievemen­t.

Our u-14 team from last year received their medals at their bonding trip to Forest Park at the weekend. They were our only team to have victory in both League and Championsh­ip in 2017 and enjoyed their celebratio­ns.

ST JOHN’S

THE St Johns Underage Academy Coaching continues until the end of March with all sessions being held indoors.Boys U7/8 Saturdays from 4-5pm and Boys U9/10Saturday 5-6pm; These will be held in The Sports Complex, Cleveragh Boys U11/12 Saturday from 3-4pm in The Tennis Club. Girls on Sunday U 7/8/9/10 from 4-5pm and U11/12/13/14 from 5-6pm both in the Sports Complex, Cleveragh. These coaching sessions are free for paid up members. As our Operation Transforma­tion since Christmas has been so successful it has been decided to continue it on for a further 6 week session which began last Tuesday. Our minor team take on local rivals Coolera-Strandhill on Sunday next March 18th in Stenson Park with an 11.00 throw-in time. Our Skoda-Burns Garage-Sponsored Senior team, under Michael McNamara’s management, begin their competitiv­e season in the Benson Cup on Saturday March 24th when they will take on Bunninadde­n in Stenson Park at 5.00pm. The other teams in their group are Calry- St Josephs, Geevagh and St Michaels. The Division 2 League will begin on Sunday April 1st with a home game against Geevagh. This will be followed with games on the 8th, 15th and 21st of April. ( The full list of fixtures are on the Sligo Gaa Website).

EASTERN HARPS

OUR Senior Ladies played their first game of the season against St. Nathys last Sunday. The final score line was 2-9 to 1-16 in favour of St.Nathys. Well done to both Sarah Gallagher and Rachel Hannon on their brilliant debut performanc­es for the team. Our next game is this Sunday 18th of March against Drumcliffe in Keash. Training continues Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in Keash. We hope to see all team players attend. Our minor boys beat St. Molaise Gaels on a score line of 2:11 to 1:05 last Sunday in the first round of the league. They are down to play Shamrock Gaels this Sunday at 11am in Keash. Please check our website and Facebook page for any last minute changes to fixtures. Clothing donations may still be collected by senior ladies team player Catherine Cryan until Sunday March 18th. All proceeds go toward developmen­t fund for our new clubhouse in Keash. Thanks again to all who have already donated your support is much appreciate­d. The OT 2018 Sunday walk in Cloonloo went ahead on Sunday morning last. An 8km route along Wynnes View was greatly enjoyed. Thanks to all who attended. The final walk is scheduled this Sunday 18th at 3pm in Keash. We would like to extend sympathies to the families of Padraic Convey, Chris Murray and Thomas Johnson who passed away recently. Bingo continues every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen Hall. Jackpot is €2,800 in 48 calls or less. The in house lotto is €400.

CLOONACOOL

THE club is running a table quiz in Brennans Lounge Cloonacool on this coming Friday night March 16th starting at 9.30 pm sharp. Tables of four at €40 per table. Their will be prizes for the winners and runners-up. We encourage as many people as possible to come along and challenge themselves, and support this club fundraiser to help purchase underage jerseys and a set of Junior goalposts. So get your thinking caps on this coming week. The new season kicks off on Sunday next when our Seniors take on neighbours Tourlestra­ne away in the Abbot Cup competitio­n. Training continues during the week at the usual times in the community park in preparatio­n for the up-coming county league competitio­n, which opens with a home game against St. Marys on Sunday1st April. All fixtures are available on the Sligo G.A.A. website. Commiserat­ions to the senior squad of St. Attractas Community School Tubbercurr­y on their defeat in the Connacht Colleges Senior A championsh­ip final in Tuam last weekend. A big thank-you to everybody who supported the clothes collection which was held over a number of weekends recently. Congratula­tions are extended to Siobhan Henry Carnaleck and Donal O’ Sullivan Ballybunio­n Co. Kerry who were married in Cloonacool Church on Saturday Last.

The Minor league started last Sunday with Ballymote/Bunninadde­n losing their opening encounter with Curry. Final score B/B 2-10 Curry3-17. TOURLESTRA­NE

WELL the season kicked off in the early morning sunshine at the pitch on Sunday when our Senior ladies played a close hard hitting game v Drumcliff/Rosses Point which the girls at the final whistle were the eventual winners by a point. After the winter break it was great to see everyone on top form and all kept digging deep to notch up the win ! Well done to the team and management. Our minor lads took on Enniscrone/Kilglass this evening at 7pm under lights at the pitch to open their season and were unlucky to be beaten by 1/10 to 1/6. Congratula­tions to John Marren and Verity Spencer on their engagement during the week. Also congratula­tions to joint Senior Manager Gerry McGowan and his wife Lorraine on the recent safe arrival of their baby daughter Sophia and I’m sure her big brother Jake is busy helping out with her too.

Hard luck to St Attracta’s senior boys team and their managers who were beaten Saturday in the Senior Schools Connacht final by a stronger Rice College Westport. The Aclare St Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Saturday next at 5pm and all support is greatly appreciate­d. Get the floats ready and come on out for what promises to be another great day and a happy St Patrick’s day to all in advance. We are holding our Annual Good Friday Family Fundraisin­g Table quiz so get busy brushing up on the your general knowledge and get the teams set up. There are some great raffle prizes also to be picked up on the night so watch the Facebook and web pages for more details to follow. Our senior girls team is hosting another Easter GAA/Skills Camp for kids again this year after the huge success last year and requests from happy children and parents alike to host it again ! Best of luck to all officers in their roles for 2018 THE club minors got their league campaign underway on Sunday morning against Shamrock Gaels in Coola. Unfortunat­ely for the lads the performanc­e just wasn’t there on the day and they will be hoping to bounce back against Tourlestra­ne next weekend. CHECK out our new underage kit now available to buy at Jako Sports. This will be the playing kit for our U-10 and U-8 teams. The T-shirt (a requiremen­t for U-8 and 10’s) is €15, with an option of shorts and socks for €22 total. Sizes catering right down to our nursery kids. There was no winner of the €8,600 Jackpot. Congrats to our ‘Match 3’ Winner John Delaney who gets €100. As there was no Jackpot Winner this week, the Jackpot rolls over to €8,700. The next draw will take place on Monday 19th March in The Owenmore Inn. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets throughout the year and continues to support the club.

SHAMROCK GAELS

THE Minor boys got the league campaign off to a great start with a comfortabl­e 3-18 to 0-6 home win over Owenmore Gaels on Sunday. The team was: Daniel Lyons, Evan Lyons, Shane McCann, Seamus Hailstones (0-1), Sean Carroll (1-0), Dylan Burke, James Carroll, Dillon McDermott, Michael Barry (0-4), Patrick Benson (0-1), Christian Monaghan (0-1), Lee Deignan (0-9), Dylan Willis (2-2). Subs: Eoin Dwyer for D Burke, Ultan McKenna for J Carroll. They are away to Eastern Harps next Sunday 18th at 11AM.

THE Ladies Junior team lost 5-7 to 3-16 at home against Owenmore Gaels last Sunday in the warmup league. The team was Meabh McDermott, Catherine Tuohy, Aoife Morrisroe, Lisa Callaghan, Chloe McTiernan, Roisin Durey, Aoife Brennan, Siobhan Brennan. Roisin Kearns (0-2), Aisling Boyd, Naomh Quinn, Rachel Boyd (2-0), Simone Kelly (3-3). Subs: Fiona Baker (01), Mairead Tuohy (0-1). They now take on Coolera/Strandhill away next Sunday at 10.00AM. ANYONE travelling on the London trip need to forward a copy of their passport and a deposit of €150 to any club member before next Wednesday.

THERE was no winner of the lotto draw last weekend with the numbers drawn 2, 10, 27 and 30. There were two match 3 winners, Maria and Aine Brennan. The next draw takes place on Saturday 24th March in Des McDonagh’s with the jackpot at €3,300.

THE club’s dinner dance takes place in the Clayton Hotel on Friday 6th April at which medals will be presented to the U21 Championsh­ip winning team. Reserve the date in your diary. THE U-8s had a great evenings sport in Ballymote on Wednesday last where they played Eastern Harps and Shamrock Gaels in ‘Peil’, a new GAA initiative. This week it’s the turn of our U-10’s. A warm welcome back to the legendary Seamus McManus who resumes as senior ladies manager following a three year hiatus. The ladies got their season off to the best possible start with a good win over St Mary’s in a warm up cup competitio­n.

ST Pats begin their season when the host Castleconn­or on Sunday April 1st in the league @ 2pm ST Pats/St Farnans received a walkover from St Johns in the opening game of the minor league on Sunday last. The Minors next game is away to Geevagh/St Michaels on Monday 19th @ 4pm. ST Pats annual table quiz due to take place next weekend has been postponed. A new date will be announced later.
