Space for stage sets and props

The Sligo Champion - - NEWS -

SLIGO Drama Circle and Everyman Productions are looking for space to store their props near their Market Yard rehearsal rooms.

The two amateur drama groups have asked the Council if it has any free space to store large sets, props, furniture and costumes.

Councillor Declan Bree asked the Council to co-operate with both groups to help them find a storage space.

Acting Director of Services Bartley Gavin told Cllr Bree that “unfortunately there is no Council space unoccupied at present which could meet the need.”

However he said the Council would continue to co-operate with the drama circle as requested.

Cllr Bree, whose motion was seconded by Cllr Tom MacSharry, said it was important to support the groups as they were a “huge part of the fabric of Sligo.”

“The Market Yard premises is not adequate to store large sets, props, furniture and equipment,” he said.
