Rear ended car turn­ing into Yeats’ grave­yard

A driver who rear ended an- other car which was turn­ing right into the cof­fee shop at Drum­cliffe grave­yard where W.B. Yeats is buried was fined for care­less driv­ing and for not hav­ing in­sur­ance.

The fines were im­posed on Florin Mun­teanu (30) of Mill Road, Mill­street in Cork who was also banned for a year aris­ing out of the crash on Septem­ber 11 th 2017.

The ac­ci­dent oc­curred at around 12pm and the other driver, Elaine O’Don­nell was stopped wait­ing to turn right, said In­spec­tor Paul Kil­coyne.

Mr Ed­die Henry, solic­i­tor (de­fend­ing) pleaded that the de­fen­dant had in­sur­ance cover on an­other ve­hi­cle but not on the van he was driv­ing on the day.

The dad of three had a pre­vi­ous no in­sur­ance con­vic­tion.
