BORD na nOg Awards Night THE Coach House Hotel will be the venue for the Bord na Og awards night on Sunday 17th February at 6pm. There will be medal presentati­ons to the victorious underage teams from 2018. Please come along on the night to recognize their success.

BIG thanks to everyone who attended the AGM on Friday last. Out going chairman Gerry Perry give a detailed account of the year and thanked everyone for the help and support during the year which involves 2 county finals along with numerous other games. A new outdoor gym was installed thanks to funding received from Sligo sport & recreation. GERRY stepped down as chairman of the community park after many years of work and consistent improvemen­ts in our facility and we wish to take this opportunit­y to sincerely thanks Gerry for his work as chairman and look forward to working with Gerry as a key committee member in the future. GERRY also thanks John o Flaherty for his great work as Secretary and for his huge work in a new applicatio­n submission for further funding to enhance the community park for everyone within the parish. ALSO thanked for there work was out treasures Brendan Gallagher, David Killoran and Richard Brennan for keeping the. Books balanced

MANY of you will know and are involved in the meet and train Programme every Monday and Thursday and Fiona Donovan, Pat Heney, Dermot Gormanly were thanked for there work in organizing this very popular training and hope this will continue ongoing with the chances of a training event during the day to be included if there is a demand. LASTLY our dedicated team that works tirelessly all year round Sean Cunningham, Martin Small. John Mcloughlin making sure the grounds look perfect for every game and a safe environmen­t for every child and adult using the park.

COOLANEY/MULLINABRE­ENA

Club Membership 2019 has now opened. We ask all players, coaches, members and supporters to register at their earliest convenienc­e. Player membership from U -6 to Senior level is mandatory to be covered to play train /play under the GAA injury benefit fund.

In conjunctio­n with the local Operation Transforma­tion Group, Nace O’Dowd Park will be lit up every Thursday evening from 7-9pm to facilitate a safe environmen­t for walking. All welcome, spread the word.

EASTERN HARPS

DUE to the cold spell last week a number of our operation transforma­tion events were postponed. Classes are going ahead this week as normal.

WE ask participan­ts to keep an eye on our Facebook page and for text messages for updates. An agonising last minute goal for Down meant Paul Taylor and his Sligo team who lost their first home game of league campaign to Down on a score line of 1:12 to 1:10. Sligo play Laois in Portlaoise on Sunday with a throw in of 2pm. Bingo continues every Friday night at 8.30pm in Gurteen Hall. Jackpot is €2,300 in 46 calls or less. The in house lotto is €300.

ENNISCRONE/ KILGLASS

INDOOR underage coaching continues every Friday evening in our astro turf building. U-8 is from 6-7pm, U-10 from 7-8pm and U-12 8-9pm. All welcome.

WE had a very informativ­e evening at Quigabar last week as Corofin’s Frank Morris visited for a coaching workshop for our club coaches. Frank has been central to Corofin’s success on the field over the past 25 years and passed on some of his expertise to our coaches by taking a training session with our U-10s, before a Q&A session. Thanks once again to Frank for travelling to us. TICKETS for our club Dinner Dance on February 16th in the Diamond Coast Hotel are now on sale. They are available for €25 from Sheridan’s Kilglass, The Wild Atlantic Inn Kinard and Queenan’s Checkout Enniscrone. Our guest on the evening will be Tyrone legend Sean Cavanagh. HAVING been postponed last week due to the poor weather, the indoor strength and conditioni­ng run by Sligo GAA is back this Wednesday evening in our astro turf for 13-17 year olds. It runs from 8-9pm and is €15.

BEST of luck to the Easkey footballer­s in their All-Ireland Junior final at Croke Park next Saturday. THERE was no winner of last weekend’s blotto draw. The draw continues every weekend – next week’s jackpot is €5200 - and your continued support is greatly appreciate­d.

CONNOLLY Park Hosts Sligo vs Down

THE club were delighted to have the honour of hosting Sligo’s opening National League game against Down last Sunday. Unfortunat­ely, it wasn’t to be Sligo’s day as Down scored a goal in the last few minutes of the game to take home the bragging rights on a score line of 1-10 to 1-12. Thanks to both sets of supporters who were very cooperativ­e on the day. IT was with great pride that the club could host a game of such significan­ce and we would like to thank all who volunteere­d on the day in every capacity as it was a real community effort.

THE club are currently reaching out to local businesses to advertise at Connolly Park in the form of a pitch side sign.

NURSERY Programme 2019 OWENMORE Gaels are hosting a Nursery Programme in the Teeling Centre Collooney. It continues this Wednesday from 6-7pm. This is an introducti­on to Gaelic Football for kids in the community in a fun filled environmen­t.

IT will run for 6 weeks and it’s €2 per child. This is aimed for children aged between 4-6, born in 2013-2014.

THE Lotto draw took place in Connollys on Monday 21sth January. The numbers drawn were 6, 14, 16 & 27.

THE club is deeply saddend to have learned of the passing of Robert Lawson of Roselawn, Castleknoc­k, Dublin 15 and formerly of Carrickban­agher, Co. Sligo. ROBERT played with the club at all levels and was a member of the victorious U12 team in 1972(Please see photo below)He played in two Intermedia­te Finals in 1979 + 1980 and represente­d Sligo at Senior level playing against Roscommon in the 1982 Connacht Championsh­ip. In the mid 80’s Robert moved to Dublin but always followed the club’s progress.

SHAMROCK GAELS

THANKS to everyone who attended our Dinner Dance in the Clayton Hotel last Saturday. It was a most enjoyable night with special guests Michael Reynolds and family to honor Michael and his induction into the Shamrock Gaels Hall of Fame.

WE were also joined by special guests, County Board Chairman, Brendan Leonard, Secretary ,Ber- nardine McGauran and Sligo LGFA Developmen­t Officer, Ted Maloney. Keith McMorrow won the Senior player of the year and he was presented with the Vincent Boyd memorial Cup by Vivion Boyd. The Junior player of the year was Mark Kearns and he was presented with the Connolly family memorial cup by Anthony Connolly.

THE U21 player of the year was Patrick Benson and he was presented with the Karl Galvin memorial cup by Liam Galvin. THE Ladies player of the year was Rachel Boyd and she was presented with the Davina Duncan memorial cup by Bernardine McGauran. The Ladies team were presented with their Championsh­p runners up medals by Ted Maloney while the Senior Mens were presented with their championsh­ip winning medals by Brendan Leonard. THANKS to the Clayton Hotel for the excellent meal and facilities and thanks to Ursula Lyons and Michael Brennan who organised the event. Thanks also to Andrew Kearns who prepared and delivered the excellent citation to honor Michael.

THERE was no winner of the lotto draw last week. The numbers drawn were 12, 15, 16, 22. There was 2 match 3 winners, Denise Quinn and Mary McDermott while Gretti Kelly won the house draw. The next draw is this Saturday in McDermotts, Castlebald­win with the jackpot at €5,600.
