Cadra has written to each declared Local Election Candidate to request their support and respect for our community wish not to have posters erected in our area during the local election in May. We have supplied our DEDs and Map of the area concerned. Please spread the word and ensure all supporters are aware.

25 CARD GAME

The regular game is each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. in Community Centre Winners on 13 games were Stephen Fallon/ Gerry Lavin Runners-up on 12 games were David McDermott/ Frank McGinley. Many thanks to all who attended recently despite the very bad weather.

New inexperien­ced players are always welcome. The game is run by Cadra in partnershi­p with St John’s GAA Club and all proceeds go to local projects in the community so please support and bring a friend.

BODHRAN CLASS

Bodhran lessons have commenced in Community Centre. All ages and abilities catered for at each class – for more informatio­n call junior at 086 3013567.

TIDY TOWNS

We are planning to finish the area on the banks at the community centre and would like to hear form anyone willing to assist with any projects or indeed any ideas contact any committee member or email cadrasligo­1@gmail.com.

LAKEVIEW GUILD ICA.

The guild meet on the first Tuesday of the month in Carraroe Community Centre at 8 p.m. New members always welcome-for further informatio­n contact Mary at 086 3755894.

The next meeting of lakeview will be held on Tuesday, February 5, at 8 p.m. Martha Ward from Sweeneys Opticians will give a presentati­on on the night.

The guild celebrated Women’s Little Christmas with afternoon tea in the Glasshouse Hotel on January 5, all the members really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the company. A big thank you to our social committee for organising it, a great idea and thanks to the staff at the Glasshouse for the excellent service.

The spring federation meeting will be held in the Sligo Park Hotel on Tuesday, February 20, at 7.30. Margaret from Strandhill Guild will give an up date on Dollys Cottage. The table quiz will be held at this meeting three members on each team, the winning team will represent Sligo Federation at the national finals.

The Gempack cake competitio­n will also be judged on the night, we would ask the members taking part in the Gempack to contact our contest secretary Kathleen before Friday, February 8.

The Sligo weekend at An Grianan plans are now finalised, balance of money now due, contact Kay.

Charlotte will provide sessions in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday morning at 7.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and each Saturday morning at 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. All current, new, re-joining and visiting members very welcome. – for more informatio­n contact Charlotte at 087 7987118.

LEARN TO DANCE

Frank is looking forward to continuing the great atmosphere of learning and fun this year in Carraroe Community Centre. All learners and experience­d dancers catered for at these sessions so come and enjoy. Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo.

Classes resuming again on Friday, January 11, for six weeks with all-Ireland Champion Ryan Sheridan. Beginner Class 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. Intermedia­te Class 7 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. Suitable for all children with a keen interest in learning traditiona­l sean nós dancing.. CHURCH NEWS

Parking at Church: Please use the designated car parks at our church which includes around the community centre. Plenty of parking is available in safe locations. Please avoid parking on the main roads. It obstructs passing traffic.

Carraroe Parish Choir: Parish Choir rehearsal on Mondays at 8 p.m. in the church. If you can sing and would like to be part of a community choir, please come along. More male singers are required.

The sick and Housebound: Mass is on 107FM Just tune your radio before Mass. Please let the housebound know about this service in your area.

HI-VIZ VEST

Cadra continues to distribute free Hi-Viz vests. We appeal to people walking or working around our community to wear Hi-Viz to ensure visibility in these dark evenings. We have a supply of free Hi-Viz available from any member of committee.
