Pro­ba­tion for steal­ing from shops

A 45-year-old man who ad­mit­ted three shoplift­ing of­fences was put on pro­ba­tion for 12 months and or­dered to give up booze for a year.

Nor­bert Kwiatkowski from Flat 2, 11 Ge­orge’s Street, Wex­ford be­fore ap­peared be­fore Judge Ger­ard Haughton at the Dis­trict Court sit­ting in Ard­ca­van.

A Pol­ish in­ter­preter as­sisted the ac­cused fol­low pro­ceed­ings and he was rep­re­sented by solic­i­tor Eadaoin Lawlor.

The court learned that Kwiatkowski took items in­clud­ing vodka, ham, tri­fle and after­shave from busi­nesses which in­cluded Dunnes Stores and Shaws.

As well as be­ing put on pro­ba­tion, the de­fen­dant was or­dered not to con­sume al­co­hol and to at­tend AA meet­ings at least once ev­ery two weeks.
