17-year-old remanded in custody
A 17-year-old faced a string of theft, criminal damage and drugs charges when he was produced at the District Court in Ardcavan.
The teenaged boy, whose mother was present for the court hearing, stood accused of stealing runners from Heaton’s and track-suit bottoms from Sports Savers.
It was also alleged that he took €100 from a charity ball he removed from Killeen’s service station and that he was found with cannabis worth €25 on Island Road in Enniscorthy.
He was further charged with damaging a Velux window to the tune of €200 at Anne’s Charity Shop in Whitemill Road and that he damaged a parking meter on St John’s Road.
However, the most serious charges related to two incidents at the Educate Together school in the Whitemill Industrial Estate.
It was alleged that on one occasion the young defendant caused €1,200 worth of damage to doors at the school during a break-in.
On a second visit to the same building, he allegedly caused €800 damage, this time by breaking a window before making off with 11 iPads and other
