17-year-old re­manded in cus­tody

A 17-year-old faced a string of theft, crim­i­nal dam­age and drugs charges when he was pro­duced at the Dis­trict Court in Ard­ca­van.

The teenaged boy, whose mother was present for the court hear­ing, stood ac­cused of steal­ing run­ners from Heaton’s and track-suit bot­toms from Sports Savers.

It was also al­leged that he took €100 from a char­ity ball he re­moved from Killeen’s ser­vice sta­tion and that he was found with cannabis worth €25 on Is­land Road in En­nis­cor­thy.

He was fur­ther charged with dam­ag­ing a Velux win­dow to the tune of €200 at Anne’s Char­ity Shop in Whitemill Road and that he dam­aged a park­ing me­ter on St John’s Road.

How­ever, the most se­ri­ous charges re­lated to two in­ci­dents at the Ed­u­cate To­gether school in the Whitemill In­dus­trial Es­tate.

It was al­leged that on one oc­ca­sion the young de­fen­dant caused €1,200 worth of dam­age to doors at the school dur­ing a break-in.
