The Cube will help aspiring new businesses in Wexford

- By DAVID TUCKER

A state-the-art new ‘space’ for nurturing fledgling businesses has opened at Wexford Enterprise Centre as part of a campaign to create jobs and bring investment to the town.

County Council chief executive Tom Enright launched The Cube last Wednesday afternoon at Wexford Enterprise Centre, billed as a new co-working open plan space for concept and early stage Wexford start-ups

Wexford Enterprise Centre Group Chief Executive Brendan Ennis, who conceived and spearhead The Cube, described it as a ‘first’ for Wexford.

‘This co-working space will give concept and early stage start-ups the professional environment they need to get their businesses off the ground,’ said Mr Ennis.

The Cube will offer local entrepreneurs the opportunity to work from a professional and dynamic co-working space making it the perfect platform from where to work, learn and grow their business.

Those who rent the spaces will receive start-up training and mentoring support from Wexford Local Enterprise Office and Wexford Local Development.

‘Starting out is never easy especially when you want to gain market penetration and keep costs down. The Cube is ideal as it creates an environment for collaboration and builds a sense of community among its members,’ said Mr Ennis.

The Cube consists of ten fully fitted state-of-the art business cubicles within an open plan space, a separate meeting room, a social area and private storage facilities for peace of mind.

For a small charge, members can secure their cube and enjoy high speed broadband, electricity, public liability insurance, free car parking and security.

In addition, they will also receive access to Wexford Enterprise Centre facilities such as reception, café, meeting rooms and outdoor exercise zone.

Tenancy ranges from three months to a maximum of 12 months.

Not only are the cubicles available to emerging businesses but a small number are suitable for remote workers wishing to be based within minutes of Wexford Town or those who require satellite office space.

Newly-appointed chairman of WEC Eamonn Murphy said he was ‘honoured to have taken up position of chairman from Philip Scallan and want to thank him and all previous chair holders for their voluntary time that they have given to make WEC Ireland’s flagship centre for innovation.. (and) Brendan Ennis and his team for yet again conceiving world class facilities for Wexford Town’.

‘We look forward to welcoming new start-ups and early concept businesses to The Cube over the coming months.’

Mr Enright said the association between Wexford County Council and the Wexford Enterprise Centre goes back over 30 years. ‘During that time we have seen the centre develop from modest beginnings to becoming one of Ireland’s leading and most successful enterprise centres. I congratulate Brendan Ennis and his team on delivering such an imaginative and professional environment for Wexford based start-ups.’ For more information email info@wec.ie referencing ‘THE CUBE’, phone 053 9141711 or visit wec.ie/thecube
