From the adverts: Wine and Dine
October 1979
You could have a fine five-course meal in 1979 for less than the price of a sandwich today, according to advertising done that year by the Cedars Hotel, Rosslare.
As it promoted itself as a venue for dinner dances, it gave dining options as a three-course meal for £3.20 per person, four courses for £3.95 per person, and five courses for £4.45 per person.
And you could add a glass of wine per person for just 40p extra!
Menu items included such 1970s staples as prawn cocktail or melon and grapefruit slices for starters, and sherry trifle for dessert. Main course options were the standard beef or salmon.
