Suspended jail sentence
A part-time fisherman was in Wexford District Court to deal with a five-yearold drugs possession charge.
Joseph Lane (33) of 14 Hantoon Road, Wexford accepted that he had possession of amphetamine for sale or supply to others at Hantoon Road on a date in July of 2012. Solicitor Tim Cummings argued that, because of the nature of his work, Lane could not commit to carry out community service.
Judge Gerard Haughton therefore decided to suspend a five month jail term, once the accused makes a contribution of €400 to the Cornmarket Project.
