Driver’s lucky escape from overturned car
MOTORISTS EXPERIENCED delays along the Duncannon Line on Thursday evening as Gardai, the fire brigade and ambulance service attended the scene of a single car accident, close to Clonard Great.
A woman in her 50s received minor injuries in the accident which happened just after 5.30 p.m.
Gardai stated that the driver lost control of the car, which was travelling in the direction of Wellingtonbridge, just after Kate’s Farm Shop. The vehicle collided with a small bridge wall and overturned onto its roof, dropping seven feet into a shallow stream.
Two units of Wexford fire brigade attended the scene and used a selection of road traffic incident equipment to cut the driver out of the car. It is understood that the woman remained conscious throughout the incident and was able to walk to the ambulance on release from the vehicle.
She was transferred to Wexford General Hospital as a precaution.
Gardai are currently investigating the incident and would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them on 053 91 65200.
