North End march on FAI JU­NIOR CUP

NORTH END United took a big scalp in the fifth round of the FAI Ju­nior Cup when overcoming Janes­boro FC in Pearse Sta­dium in Lim­er­ick on Sun­day.

The Sky Blues ran out 2-1 win­ners, with Shane Dempsey and Ja­son Mur­phy hit­ting the back of the net for the Wex­ford town out­fit.

Their Premier Di­vi­sion ri­vals Moyne Rangers also pro­gressed, thanks to a 2-1 win over Lake­wood Ath­letic. John Peare and Ryan Ma­hon got the goals for the En­nis­cor­thy side.

Wex­ford Bohs put up a brave ef­fort be­fore bow­ing out to Knock­na­heeny Celtic 2-1 af­ter ex­tra-time. Todd Hynes got the goal for the Wex­ford rep­re­sen­ta­tives.

There was no joy for Cour­town Hibs and New Ross Celtic, with both suf­fer­ing de­feats on the road. Hibs lost 3-0 to Clon­mel Celtic, while the Bar­rowsiders suc­cumbed 6-0 to St. Michael’s FC.
