The weekly ‘30’ card game con­tin­ues in the com­mu­nity cen­tre this Fri­day, De­cem­ber 8, at 9 p.m. Cater­ing on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 8, will be: Breda Bradley, Kay McCabe and An­gela Har­ring­ton; cater­ing on Fri­day the 15th will be: Breda Kelly, Va­lerie Kelly, Chris­tine Mackey, Anne O’Brien and Eileen Mo­ran; on Fri­day the 22nd will be: Dympna Rochford, Mary Lawlor, Edel Crean and Marie Dun­phy. Pro­ceeds go­ing to par­ish funds.

Card win­ners on Fri­day, Novem­ber 24, were: Tom Rochford, Pat Quinn, Nick Doyle, Andy Reville, Pat Mur­phy and Matty Sullivan. Christ­mas Ham win­ners were Liam Whe­lan and Paddy Fur­long.


The lucky win­ner in this week’s split-the-pot draw was Kate Whe­lan, Ju­nior In­fants, Adamstown NS who re­ceived €80. Sell­ers prize went to Ross English.


The next draw in the Adamstown lotto draw takes place this Fri­day, De­cem­ber 8, in the com­mu­nity cen­tre.


Con­grat­u­la­tions to Emma Doyle, 26 Wood­view Drive, Adamstown on her grad­u­a­tion down in Water­ford Col­lege Novem­ber 22. ‘Beauty Ther­apy’ level six. The senior cit­i­zen Christ­mas party will take place in the Horse and Hound on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 10, at 6 p.m. In­vi­ta­tions will be out this week, but if you don’t get an in­vi­ta­tion and you are el­i­gi­ble to go please let any ICA mem­ber know, thank you. Clon­roche Pan­tomime So­ci­ety, to­gether with Car­rick­byrne Pike Group are work­ing hard in prepa­ra­tion for their up­com­ing mu­si­cal ‘Devine In­ter­ven­tion’. The mu­si­cal will run from De­cem­ber 5 to De­cem­ber 9, Tues­day through to Satur­day.

The ac­tion opens when a lot­tery win­ner dies of shock, and his fel­low vil­lage folk at­tempt to claim the money. The story is in­ter­spersed with well loved songs, dance rou­tines, drama and com­edy.

lo­cal lad Paraic Wick­ham is head­ing to Ch­er­nobyl to work in an or­phan­age for one week as part of his TY pro­gramme. He needs to raise be­tween €800 and €1,000 for the or­phan­age. CAROL SINGING – Our Club Mem­bers will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in the an­nual Carol Ser­vice af­ter Mass in Bree on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 16. All pro­ceeds go to HOPE. We would like to in­vite ev­ery­one down to the hall af­ter this for some Hot Choco­late to warm up.

WIN­TER FUN RUN/WALK – This year, Bree Youth Club will be hold­ing a win­ter Fun Run/Walk in aid of the Wex­ford Women’s and Men’s Refuge on De­cem­ber 30 at 1 p.m. We have a 10k for €5 and a 5k for €3 on of­fer for par­tic­i­pants. Reg­is­tra­tion is from 11.45 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. in Bree Com­mu­nity Cen­tre be­fore the event. A great fam­ily day out with some lovely spot prizes on the day.

OTHER NEWS – We would like to say a big thank you to our lead­ers Joey Mur­ray, Larry De­laney, Martin Cahill, Ja­son Broad­ers, Deb­bie Carr, Mark Rodgers and Anne Sullivan for all their help dur­ing the soc­cer tour­na­ment.

Our Senior End of Trip will be to Car­ling­ford on the 15th to July 16, 2018. The cost will be €110 which in­cludes the bus, three ac­tiv­i­ties, an evening meal, break­fast and lunch and board for the night. A pay­ment plan of pay­ing €5 a night will be set up af­ter Christ­mas for those in­ter­ested in go­ing on the trip.

Our Ju­niors will be go­ing to Clara Lara in the sum­mer. Price to fol­low in the com­ing weeks. A pay­ment plan will also be set up for this trip.


The AGM took place in Bree Hall and of­fi­cers for 2018 are chair­man; Wil­liam Spratt Mur­phy, sec­re­tary; Clare Doyle and trea­surer; Una Doyle. The pre­sen­ta­tion of an­nual awards took place fol­low­ing the AGM; Ath­lete of the Year – Seán Row­ley; John God­kin Award – Ab­bie Doyle: Bree ICA Award – Oisin Rochford; Peter Byrne Award – Darra Casey; Pat O’Leary Award – Katie Doyle; Tony Greene Award – Gra­cie Ke­hoe; Paul Ke­hoe Award – Aoife Cloke Rochford; Spe­cial Merit Awards – Ciara Laf­fan and Keira Wil­son.


On Satur­day the ninth and Sun­day the 10th af­ter both Masses there will be a cake sale in the Old School Cen­tre. All do­na­tions would be greatly ap­pre­ci­ated for the cake sale and raf­fle, do­na­tions can be left into the cen­tre be­fore both Masses. Tea and buns will be avail­able to those who want to catch up and have a chat, if you would like us to pick up any do­na­tions of cakes and buns please con­tact Pat at 087 6376088.

The next date for so­cial danc­ing in Oyle­gate Com­mu­nity Cen­tre is Sun­day, De­cem­ber 10. Mu­sic on the night is by Teddy and Cathal Barry, who make a wel­come re­turn on this oc­ca­sion. Danc­ing from 9.30 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is €8, so come along for a great night of mu­sic, song and dance.
