Sad­ness at the death of Johnny Beary

THERE is wide­spread sad­ness this week fol­low­ing the death of Johnny Beary on Sun­day.

Johnny (73) from Fran­cis Street was well known in Wex­ford through his work with the Fri­ary and he was also a mem­ber of the St Patrick’s Fife and Drum band.

Johnny worked in the Fran­cis­can Fri­ary for over 35 years in the of­fice and he also pres­i­dent of the Sec­u­lar Fran­cis­can Or­der for a time.

In ad­di­tion to work­ing in the of­fice at the Fri­ary, Johnny also acted as a guide in the Fri­ary and was an ac­tive par­tic­i­pant dur­ing all ac­tiv­i­ties there.

Mar­ried to Mar­garet, the cou- ple have two chil­dren, Patrick and John.

A keen rugby fan Johnny loved watch­ing matches on the tele­vi­sion and he had en­joyed a trip to Cardiff to watch a match in 2015 af­ter his 70th birth­day.

Johnny’s fu­neral Mass takes place in Rowe Street Church on Fri­day morn­ing.
